2024 Stewardship Campaign
Letter To The Congregation
Westmont Christian Church Family,
As we begin our Stewardship Campaign for 2024, we have so much to be thankful for and to celebrate. In the past year, we have experienced steady growth in our congregation and worship attendance. Children, Youth, and Adult programs continue to grow, Vacation Bible School broke all our records, and our outreaches are touching more people now that any year prior. As we grow, we are also anticipating hiring a new Youth Minister to help the Children’s and Youth ministries.
We are grateful this congregation continues to lift each other in prayer and hold to the ways God has called us to give, as we seek the ways God continues to call us to give. Westmont has always been a very generous church, shining the light of Christ as we love God and love our neighbors through our patience, kindness, servanthood, and generosity. This year we have only increased the amount of individuals we have helped through our benevolence fund. We continue to see firsthand how the rise of costs in our country has affected households and their ability not only to thrive, but to survive. In 2023, Westmont has struggled to meet our budget on a monthly basis through our current level of giving, which has made it difficult to keep our growing ministries viable.
Even though our General Board, the Elders, and the Staff here at Westmont Christian Church have been doing our best to steward the money given to this church well, we still struggle to meet the budget each month. We are calling on our faithful members to continue to give and even to prayerfully consider increasing your giving commitment. We want to avoid a gap in giving this year and be able to create a budget that is reasonable and reflective of who we are as a congregation and the direction God is clearly leading us. We want to be good stewards of the pledges that we will receive, and know that God is entrusting to us for the ministry and work of the Kingdom. In order for Westmont to be faithful in the stewardship of our finances we need our members to turn in an Estimate of Giving. This will allow us to properly plan the direction and growth of our church.
An Estimate of Giving simply helps the General Board to construct a budget that is faithful to the giving commitment of our members. We hope you will prayerfully consider turning in an Estimate of Giving that reflects what God is calling you to give, nothing more and nothing less. Let us be encouraged as Paul encouraged the Corinthians: “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
Let us give because God has first given to us. Let our obedience in giving flow from the understanding that every earthly possession we have or receive comes from our Father, and the greatest gift is the gift of Christ. May our acts of giving be acts of joy and worship because of a love reflected in us through Christ. Thank you for submitting your Estimate of Giving to the church by Sunday, October 1, 2023.
To God be the glory!
